In a five-day period between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30, the number of positive tests recorded rose 167. The daily case change was 55 between Tuesday and Wednesday. The most recent two-week positivity rate is nearly 16%, enough to place the county into level red, or severe, on the state's dial framework, although for now, the county remains a click down from that, at level orange — high risk.

HOLIDAY HOPE: After taking a cross country journey, the Engelmann spruce tree lit up Washington, D.C. in front of the U.S. Capitol building Dec. 2 in celebration of the holiday season.
With the 55-foot tall, 25-foot wide spruce decorated with lights and Christmas tree ornaments from Coloradans on the West Lawn, members of Colorado's congressional delegation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and other special guests spoke at the lighting ceremony at 3 p.m. MT.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: In 2016, Paul Hurschmann wrote this story about the dozens of Christmas trees installed along Main Street in Montrose. To spruce up Main Street, the Montrose Downtown Development Authority and the City of Montrose spent $2,399 to display trees and give Montrose a more homey feel ahead of the annual Parade of Lights.
