| | Here comes Santa Claus: As many Coloradans slept early Thursday morning, Saint Nick was already flying over Asia delivering Christmas gifts. He was even wearing his face mask because of the pandemic. How do I know that? The NORAD Santa Tracker. While 2020 has seen its fair share of cancellations from COVID-19, children and adults alike can still track Santa with the official Santa Tracker and call the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to see when Santa will be arriving in your town. Families can call the NORAD Tracks Santa toll-free number, 1-800-HI-NORAD. Some callers will get through to member of the military while others will get a recorded update on Santa's current location. But remember, children should be asleep before Santa arrives so he doesn't miss your house. Holiday lights: This house, with lights programmed to music, is part of the City of Montrose Tour of Lights, which runs through Dec. 31. There are 30 stops on the tour, situated all about Montrose. A map of the tour can be found at tinyurl.com/TourOfLightsMap. And then you can vote on your favorites at tinyurl.com/MontroseVote. Stay open safely: Montrose County reviewed the Five Star State Certification Program, piloted by Mesa County and adopted by the state last week during a meeting this week. The program, which is voluntary and requires counties to apply, allows certified businesses to operate at increased capacity limits. For now, the county's goal is to remain at Level Orange, Montrose County Commissioner Sue Hansen said, rather than apply for the program at this moment. (Hansen, though, said the county has not eliminated the possibility of applying for the program if such action is needed to support local businesses.) | | | | | |
