SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES:
Small Business Saturday promotions helped bring customers through the doors of downtown shops over the weekend — and, said proprietors, the pandemic appears to be driving home the need to support local businesses.
This year in Montrose, local shops are part of additional Small Business Saturdays — Dec. 5, 12, and 19. The City of Montrose flowed $10,000 in Montrose Bucks into these promotions — every $50 spent at participating locations (about 16) earns the shopper an additional $10 in Montrose Bucks that can be used at those downtown businesses.

'TIS THE SEASON: It's time to unravel those light strands and decorate the halls with holiday cheer. Aside from being the first day of December, it's also National Christmas Lights Day.
Families used to balance candles on their Christmas tree branches for the holiday, which led to many house fires. Though Thomas Edison invented electric Christmas lights in 1880, it wasn't until 1903 when General Electric began selling pre-assembled kits of Christmas lights.
Check out these Christmas lights attractions in the running for the Best Public Holiday Lights Display.

DINING IN TIPIS:
Local businesses are receiving reinforcements.
The City of Montrose and the Colorado Yurt Company — a Montrose manufacturer that crafts yurts, tipis and tents — have teamed up to provide outdoor tipis to businesses in the area interested in providing outdoor seating as an alternative in response to COVID-19 restrictions.
