YOUTH HOUSING: When it's built in Delta, CASA of the 7th Judicial District's supported housing for young adults won't be identical to its existing housing complex in Montrose, but the purpose will be the same: to give youths who are aging out of the foster care system stability as they make their way in the adult world.
The "1st Place on Palmer Street" is expected to break ground in the first few months of next year, as CASA works to meet a funding-match challenge that will bring in the final dollars needed for the Department of Local Affairs-funded project.

COOKIES: One of my fondest memories of the holiday season is my mom's chocolate chip cookies. The ooey-gooey goodness of the warm chocolate chips melting in my mouth always brings a smile to my face. While Christmas and New Year's are a couple of weeks away, you can still enjoy a delicious cookie in celebration of National Cookie Day.
If you don't want to bake a batch of cookies, don't worry. There are several cookie deals, including winning a year's worth of free sweets.

AG RESILIENCY: A panel of Colorado agricultural experts praised the resiliency of farmers and ranchers this year during a virtual symposium on Thursday, acknowledging their efforts in what has been a difficult season for the industry in the middle of a pandemic.
"Local agriculture is an essential and growing part of our food system and 2020 has made it that much stronger," said Gov. Jared Polis in a pre-recorded video aired during the symposium.

NO, THIS IS NOT AN AD: Did you know GEICO is actually an acronym? It stands for Government Employees Insurance Company, to match the company's original target market. Remember POGs in the 1990s? It stood for Passion fruit, Orange, Guava – the name of a Maui-based beverage whose lids gave rise to the game. Check out a list of other acronyms and what's behind them.
OK, maybe all of that will impress your friends but it won't help you much in the real world. This will — the percentage calculator. I use it all the time.
