Biden announced full troop withdrawal from Afghanistan: Biden is planning on ending the nearly 20-year war in Afghanistan with plans to withdraw all American troops by September 11, 2021.

Approximately 3,500 soldiers are currently situated in the country. The Trump administration brokered a deal with the Taliban in February 2020 for a full exit by May 1, but Biden is extending the timeline for what he hopes will be the last time.

"We will not conduct a hasty rush to the exit. We'll do it responsibly, deliberately and safely, and we'll do it in full coordination with our allies and partners," Biden said earlier this afternoon.

"The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan respects the U.S. decision and we will work with our U.S. partners to ensure a smooth transition," Afghani president Ashraf Ghani wrote on Twitter.

State COVID dial retiring this week: It's had a long run and gone through many changes, but Colorado's coronavirus level dial will no longer exist at the end of the week.

Starting Friday, local health departments will have more control and jurisdiction on mask mandates and COVID-related restrictions.

This change comes as the state may be starting a fourth wave of the virus, with the amount of detected cases in the state slowly rising.

According to the Montrose County Public Health website, no new public health orders have yet been implemented. Montrose County was designated at level green, the lowest one on the metric, last week.

Ever Given impounded over $916 million bill:
Remember that cargo ship stuck in the middle of Egypt's Suez Canal that caused shipping delays around the world? It's still going to be a while before the ship will sail to its final destination in Rotterdam.

The ship, owned by a Japanese shipping company, ran aground last month and blocked the canal for nearly a week before crews working around the clock dislodged the boat from the sandy banks of the canal on March 29.

An Egyptian court ordered the boat's owner to pay $916 million to the Suez Canal Authority to compensate for the damages from the blockage as well as the rescue operation and maintenance fees.

The ship has been seized and is currently anchored in a large lake in the middle of the canal while an agreement about financial compensation is figured out.

Long before the Indians played in the state championship game at Broadmoor World Arena last month, vying for the program's first title, there was always the whisper that this 4A team on the Western Slope could make some noise, at least in the mind of two-time Southwestern League Player of the Year Luke Hutto.
