Did anyone lose a rooster?

This little guy has been roaming around the Montrose Daily Press property and while we love the company, we don't anyone missing him.

On another note, happiest of birthdays to our esteemed publisher, Dennis! May you have many more years of ice cream, interesting stories and the occasional rooster in your yard.

News flash, for the busy folks out there
  • An undercover officer paid for a one-hour massage at Asian Massage (located on South Townsend Avenue). The sting op led to the arrest of a Montrose woman, who is due to court on Sept. 26 on allegations of keeping a place of prostitution.
  • A man was killed following a gunfire exchange on Monday along O74 Road in Olathe. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation responded to help process the scene.
  • The long-awaited signalization at Chipeta and US 550 may just light up by the end of the year. It all depends on the supply chain, of course, but City Engineer Scott Murphy reported earlier this week that the project's construction phase is kicking off.
  • Just in: Montrose County's death toll from West Nile virus climbed to three over the weekend, with an older woman and man succumbing to encephalitis due to the infection. Including the three deaths, 19 county residents have been infected with the virus. There's no treatment for the virus, so health officials urge the public to take preventative steps in getting bit by the culex mosquito. Our deepest condolences go out to the three individual's loved ones.

Have a great weekend, Montrose! See you again next week.

- Cassie
