Hello, Montrose! Justin here, and I was notified last week that I might've jumped the gun a little bit with the fall colors alert. That was my mistake. It's always tough to tell exactly when the leaves will start to change, and while there was some change last weekend, it wasn't necessarily the bright and beautiful colors we see in photographs. But that might start to happen this weekend — and run into next, according to this guide, which will hopefully be a little more accurate.

Let's cross our fingers... and thanks for bearing with me.

More fun activities this weekend: We've got a few fun events this weekend. First is Oktoberfest — always one of my favorites. Above is a photo of a couple youngsters dancing at the 2021 Oktoberfest. The event benefits All Points Transit, and kudos to the Black Canyon Homebrewers Association, which always shows up with a large number of volunteers. Tickets here. We also have Dinner on Main, which benefits Habitat for Humanity and Sharing Ministries. Tickets are sold out, unfortunately. But it should be a fun one. We also have Culture Fest at the Ute Indian Museum. It's free to the public, and it celebrates the diverse communities in Montrose. There are more events... read about them all here (no paywall).

Are you ready for some football? The Montrose Red Hawks will line up, on the road, across from Lutheran (Parker) tonight at 7 p.m. You can watch it online. Let's go, Red Hawks!

Are you ready for some (NFL) football? The Denver Broncos are off to a... questionable... start. After giving up a huge chunk of their future stock in the NFL draft, the Broncos will need some more out of ex-Seahawk Russell Wilson, who has been pretty average through two games. They've got a tough 49ers team this Sunday. I've got a bunch of buddies who are Denver fans, and while I can't give up rooting for the Cowboys, I've at least invested in a Broncos t-shirt recently. I'll be wearing it Sunday (the Cowboys are on Monday Night Football this week).

Shameless plug... You may have seen me out and about hosting trivia nights. It's something I've been doing since January, and it's a fun way to meet community members.

I'm at Double Barrel Taco on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, and I'm at Storm King Distilling on the second and fourth Wednesdays. They post trivia night alerts to their Instagram accounts. Each trivia night has all original questions, and there are prizes involved. Bring your friends or family. I'd love to say hi to you. We can chat newspaper (or useless knowledge). Above is a photo of this past Wednesday's winners at Double Barrel. They're some trivia night regulars, and I was glad to see them pick up a win.
