| | Corn queues and summer fun If you made it to Olathe Saturday, you saw the good news up close: delicious Olathe Sweet sweet corn being handed out to those who waited during the annual sweet corn festival. The event went off with the usual fun, despite earlier fears about moth larvae that hit the sweet corn crops. There's some progress on that issue, said Tuxedo Corn's John Harold, Olathe Sweet sweet corn patent holder. Harold says a "cadre" of state and federal officials are listening. "Was there any immediate solution? No. The good thing about it is state and federal agencies are very aware of it, working on it, I think," Harold said Friday. " ... They understand the problem. The problem is all over the country. We're not the only ones experiencing it. They are working on that end." As for Harold, he brought in more labor, so although the picking process is slower, Tuxedo has been able to pick the corn. He's preparing for a hard push toward the end of this week.
