Local flavor Saturday was just about perfect. Maybe not weather-wise (brrr!), but seasonally speaking. Downtown merchants brought it all to the table for Small Business Saturday; a quick walk down Main showed thriving entrepreneurs, holiday decorations, complete with real snow, and even a horse-drawn wagon to take you hither and yon (courtesy Y-Bar Hitch Suffolk Punch Ranch and DART). (Good advice from a local small business.) • If Small Business Saturday wasn't enough to put you in a holiday mood, maybe the snow in the high country helped. If you're yearning to hit the slopes, check out this piece here, where staff writer Kylea Henseler lays out where to go. A little bird told me the winner of the coveted Golden Ladle this year in the "Most Unique" category was none other than Dave Frank, with his gator green chili. Congrats, Dave, and all other winners (info pending). Thank you to everyone who participated in this important fundraiser!
