Films on Films

Y'all know I love writing arts and entertainment content, especially when it comes to getting the word out about cool, local events. From today's Dia de los Muertos celebration to a Grateful Dead cover band playing Bluecorn this Saturday, there's plenty of cool things in sleepy Montrose.

But this week, I've done a disproportionate amount of work covering film-related events, and it's been pretty cool. Long story, short, there's plenty of events coming up that are perfect for local film buffs.

On Sunday, adventure lovers can watch inspiring documentaries and shorts as part of the Mountainfilm on Tour series right here in town.

The Ridgway International Film Festival will run next week at the Sherbino, kicking off Thursday night with an inspiring film about a local mountaineer who traversed the Sneffels Range as he struggled with mental health issues.

And, about two weeks from now, those willing to drive toward Gunnison can check out a Western Colorado University screening of "The Holly," an inspiring profile from award-winning journalist and filmmaker Julian Rubinstein about a former gang-leader-turned-activist from Denver.

All the filmmakers and organizers we've chatted with are super excited for the events, and welcome Montrose to join in with open arms.

Cheers,
Kylea from the newsroom
