New season, new sports ...

With the changing of the seasons, as we head into winter, comes a new rotation of local high school sports. While the fall is dominated by football, as well as volleyball, golf, soccer and softball, the winter season features basketball, wrestling and swimming.

We look forward to digging into coverage of these winter sports, relaying to our readers the season's various narratives. In addition to chronicling these more traditional high school sports, we'll also be exploring more alternative paths — did you know Montrose High School has a climbing team?

Right now we're busy bringing you preview stories so you'll better know the players and storylines of each sport going into the season. You can go ahead and check out our previews for Red Hawks swimming, as well as girls basketball while you wait for the rest of the previews to drop.

And check with the Montrose Daily Press throughout this winter season for rundowns of games, meets and matches.

Have a Good One,
