Spring tease

Well, this weekend's weather was better than last's! It was a welcome brush with spring, which officially hits next week. With weather in the 60s, it was beautiful time on Saturday and Sunday for hiking or riding - even an early start on home improvement projects.

Which reminds me: The Montrose Home and Garden Expo is coming up Friday - Sunday at the Montrose County Fairgrounds. Free entry! Free parking! You chance to talk directly to vendors, and enjoy giveaways. If you're looking to spruce up for spring or summer, head on down. It's noon - 6 Friday; 10 - 5 Saturday, and 11 - 4 on Sunday.

Get ready!

And now, a pro tip:

It is "St. Paddy's Day," not "St. Patty's Day." Why? Ask a Gaelic speaker, or consider: The saint's Gaelic name is "Padraic" (or Padraig). No T. "Patty" is short for Patricia.

Speaking of which, Happy St. Patrick's Day! There will be a parade a brew fest to mark the day, one day early, on Saturday, March 16.  Celebrations kick off at 10 a.m. at Mosaic, 21 N. Cascade Ave., Montrose, with a bike-decorating event for the non-motorized parade. The parade begins from Centennial Plaza at 11:30 a.m. (that's go-time; be there beforehand if participating). The parade ends at Horsefly on East Main, where the brewfest begins. The fest is $35 for adults, with $5 off for parade participants, or $20 for non-drinkers, and/or ages 16 - 20.

Hospital clinics and private physician group transition to new ambulatory care center
About 17 months ago, ceremonial shovels shifted a bit of ground at the vacant lot across from Hobby Lobby. Steadily, from behind construction fences, steel beams began rising to form the Montrose Regional Health Ambulatory Care Center. On Monday, several…
