Montrose rejects non-sanctuary ... It was a big night in Montrose Tuesday night, as more than a hundred people turned out for the Montrose City Council's discussion about whether or not to ratify a declaration made earlier this month to declare Montrose to be a non-sanctuary city. For about three hours, council members listened to public concerns — concerns about illegal immigrants coming into the area, and also concerns that a non-sanctuary declaration would have negative impacts on the community. And then — by a 3-2 vote — walked back their previous declaration. Reporter Kylea Henselser attended the meeting last night and you can read her story here.
