MHS MTB team celebrates the stoke …

The Montrose High School mountain bike team recently wrapped up another season. The team, 35 members strong, placed 14th out of 20 teams at a recent Division 1 competition.

But competitions aren't necessarily the entirety of the point with the MHS MTB team. As sophomore Zac Wilkes said, the team is about biking, but also bonds and community.

"I've gotten to grow friendships and make new ones, as well as develop myself through this season," Wilkes said.

According to coach Tony Cimaglio, the MHS mountain bike team is meant to foster an appreciation of the sport — "we want to create lifelong cycling enthusiasts" — and also provide an environment for athletes who excel in a more individualized venue than that of team sports.

"We have plenty of kids that didn't fit into the traditional team sports model," Cimaglio said.

Now, after years of work, it will be again, with three food concepts, a bar and two food trucks bringing the space back to life.
