Regional businesses expanding ...

This week, we're sharing the stories of two regional businesses that are currently expanding. The first is Fabula, a longtime mainstay on Montrose's Main Street that's opening a retail location in Ridgway; and the second is Hotchkiss-based Third Bowl Ice Cream, which has opened a shop in Grand Junction.

Recall and replace? Petitioners seek Mijares' removal; Montrose commissioner labels effort a 'political stunt' [UPDATED]

Recall and replace efforts against Montrose County Commissioner Scott Mijares are underway, after the Recall Scott Mijares Committee members filed a notice of intent with the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder.

County HR director resigns as interim manager, citing tensions.

Citing feelings of harassment and of being targeted — along with fears of retaliation she did not think were speculative — Montrose County's interim county manager resigned abruptly this week. Leslie Quon will remain as the county's human resources director. Her departure from the interim role leaves the county without an acting manager, as, separately, the county commissioners announced Monday they were not moving forward with the finalist for the county manager role.
