Education during COVID-19:
Educators and students adapted to the new learning environments that continuously evolved throughout 2020 as COVID-19 safety precautions changed.
Montrose County School District changed how instructional staff deliver instruction, implemented mitigation strategies and screenings along with other changes during 2020. Take a look back on the evolution of education locally.

Felony filings drop: The number of adult felony cases filed in 2020 dropped judicial district-wide, owing in part to the reclassification of drug possession to a misdemeanor offense, as well as, possibly, the ongoing effects of the pandemic.
In 2019, prosecutors brought 1,141 felony cases between Jan. 1 and Dec. 14; in the same period this year, felony filings stood at 903 for the 7th Judicial District — Montrose, Delta, San Miguel, Ouray, Hinsdale and Ouray counties.
"What they show is, overall, in the entire district, we're down 26%," District Attorney Dan Hotsenpiller said.

Everything is better with BACON: Whether you prefer your bacon floppy or crispy, bacon lovers can celebrate this American food on Bacon Day, Dec. 30. Danya "D" Goodman and Meff "Human Cannonball" Leonard founded Bacon Day in 1997 as the one great day to bond everyone together.
Did you know? Bacon is made from the pork belly in the United States and Canada, but other countries use the side and back cuts of pork.
