Fine steins! And other fun, "on tap" this past weekend at Oktoberfest, and Katharhynn from the newsroom here can attest that it was a blast!
The event returned after being put on hold during last year's pandemic restrictions, plus it ushered in the new amphitheater in Cerise Park as the first formal event.
It provided All Points Transit with critical funds for operational costs, so entry fees definitely went to a good cause while attendees had a good time.
Did you catch the stein-hoisting contest, or watch in admiration as Homestead Circus Productions acrobats trotted around on stilts? Congrats to the People's Choice brewers awards: Crooked Stave Artisans (first) ; 2 Rascals (second) and Ramblebine Brewing Co.(third).

Speaking of weekend events for a good cause: Saturday was the annual Bosom Buddies walk/run, a major fundraiser for the regional breast cancer support group. Montrose turned out in pink to support cancer survivors. Well done! Thank you to Joseph Harold for this photo. If you would like to donate; to learn more; or to check out the support services available, visit https://bosombuddiesswc.org/

Can you help? The Montrose Elks Lodge is conducting a winter-gear drive to provide veterans in need with things like coats, hats, sleeping bags and other essentials. Also dry, portable snacks, plus cat and dog food. You can drop donations by the Elks at 801 S. Hillcrest Drive until Nov. 11.

Word of the day ... "Neogamist." It's not that strange, when you think it through. "Neo" denotes "new" and "gamy" denotes marriage. So, a neogamist is basically a newlywed! ("Words You Should Know to Sound Smart" daily calendar.)
