Good afternoon! It's Josue with today's newsletter, not surprised to see light snow showers this morning. Usually snowfall arrives late October or sometime in November on this side of the mountain (most years), but you never know with Colorado — it could be snowing all morning then feel like a summer day in the afternoon and early evening. You know what I'm talking about. Hard not to appreciate that range though, right?
If you're traveling these next few days, travel safe.
Let's get into the latest in Montrose.
The inside of each building is expected to be completed third-quarter 2021 to first-quarter 2022. Tenants (businesses) are expected to start moving in first fiscal quarter of 2022. One of those is expected to be a restaurant. There's plenty of updates to come regarding the overall project, which you can learn more about here. You can also read previous updates, like the status of the planned hotel and Colorado Yurt's new facility.
Applications open: Montrose County School District opened its application process to become a member of one of two subcommittees, which are tasked with brainstorming new mascots for Montrose High School and Centennial Middle School. You can apply here. Applications are open until Oct. 25 and you can read more about the process in this story from staff writer Anna Lynn Winfrey.
Mo-Town Knows: Episode 4 of Mo-Town Knows airs tonight at 6 p.m. with Anna Lynn set to make her hosting debut.
She'll be joined by MCSD reps Jim Pavlich, executive director of operations; Phillip Bailey, director of property services; and Penny Harris, the early childhood education director.
The group will talk about MCSD's new master plan outlining new projects and deferred maintenance for local schools. You can watch any of the first three episodes here.
