Sad news. General Colin Powell, first Black Secretary of State, has died at 84. Powell, who served the nation for decades, died due to complications of COVID-19. He had fought multiple myeloma, which rendered him immuno-compromised. Powell was vaccinated and was to have received a booster shot, but fell too ill, CNN reports. This is Katharhynn from the newsroom, honoring Powell's public service and acknowledging his legacy is a complicated one. My condolences to his family and my thanks to him as one citizen of a grateful nation.
