What's up, Montrose! This is Anna Lynn here. The weather earlier this week was putting me in a mood to pop in a Blu-Ray and chill on the couch, but I'm so glad to see that the sun is out today.

Since I moved here in June, I've been nursing two tomato plants in 5-gallon buckets that have been growing outside of my apartment all summer. I've been enjoying the harvest in breakfast sandwiches oozing with egg yolk, bountiful bowls of pasta topped with fresh basil and baked into a tomato galette.

Alas, the outdoor growing season is coming to a close around here — I brought my buckets into my warm living room last night so they wouldn't freeze, but it will only be so long before the days are frozen and my tomatoes shrivel from the lack of sunlight. But I've thoroughly enjoyed nurturing my very own garden and am already thinking about what I want to plant next year. (Herbs!!)

Fellow gardeners, do share: what else did you grow this season? What was the most delicious thing you made with the fruits of your labor? Reply to this email or send a message to annalynnw@montrosepress.com.

Speaking of cold weather, a few ski resorts around the state are opening this weekend. Wolf Creek ski area, near Pagosa Springs, will power on the chairlifts for the first time tomorrow after they got 14 inches of snow. Meanwhile, Arapahoe Basin will open on Sunday.

Keep your eyes out for an update on the nearby ski resorts sometime soon from Josue Perez, our business beat writer!

In case you missed it! Last night, I made my hosting debut on Mo-Town Knows, a bi-monthly series of conversations with people around town. I spoke with a group of people from the school district about a new plan to contend with the growing community, aging buildings and the dire need for childcare in Montrose. Check it out here!

Finally! Last week, I asked to see some beautiful leaf pictures and y'all didn't disappoint. Here are some of my favorite submissions.

Donna Brummitt also shared this beautiful photo of some aspens near Aspen!
