Cold snap and an unofficial road report.

The skies are brighter but the roads are still treacherous this morning. 50 mph seems to be the optimal speed this morning.

Driving in from Delta this morning there were four vehicles off to the side of the road. Two just south of the old LP plant, one just south of the Olathe intersection and one as I was approaching Menonken hill. The last one looked like it took a roll, the others appeared to just slide off the highway. All we're being attended to as I passed them.

Yesterday morning and evening there were none.

Montrose schools and facilities are closed today. Montrose County and City are on a two hour delay. Offices will open at 10am this morning.

The temperatures dipped last night to zero or below zero depending on where you live. Calving season has begun so be thinking about our neighbors in the cattle business as they battle temperatures and the other dangers the calves and their mothers face.

My cousin Larry Anderson dropped these photos on Facebook yesterday. He has a small farm on Garnet Mesa.

Have a safe and warm day.
