Hoops playoff roundup.

The first games of the 2023 CHSAA high school playoffs are in the books. It was a mix bag for the Montrose and Olathe High School teams.

Girls just wanna have fun and keep playing.

Both Montrose and Olathe girl teams won their first game. Montrose defeated Mesa Ridge by a score of 46-31. They will travel to Johnstown to play Roosevelt.

Other action in the Southwestern league saw Fruita, Durango advance while Central's season ended. Grand Junction failed to make the playoffs.

The Olathe Girls also advanced with a 55-37 victory over Roaring Fork. They will play North Fork Friday at 1:30pm.

In boys action Montrose lost last night to Harrison at home 47-32. The boys finished with a 15-9 overall record.
Grand Junction Central also lost while Fruita advanced. Grand Junction and Durango didn't advance to postseason play.

The Olathe Pirates finished a tough season by falling to Roaring Fork 66-39. Their final record was 2-17.
