Catching up with Montrose high school basketball.

The Montrose Boys Basketball team is having a good year with an 11-5 record overall, 2-2 in league standings.

Grand Junction Central is 3-1 after clipping Montrose Tuesday night 45-42. Fruita Monument sits in second at 2-1. Grand Junction is 1-2 and Durango sits at the bottom at 1-3.

Montrose and GJ faceoff off tonight in GJ with a 7pm tipoff time. Remaining league games Fruita (away) on Tues. 2/7. Grand Junction for the final home game Tues. 2/14 then they wrap up the regular season in Durango on Fri 2/17.

In non-league action the Red Hawks have Battle Mountain at home tomorrow night 4pm, Delta away Thurs 2/9, Alamosa away Sat 2/11.

According to Maxpreps sophomore Kaleb Ferguson leads the Red Hawks in scoring with an avg of 16.3 per game. Montrose is currently ranked 9th in the state in class 5A

In girls action the Montrose team also sits with an overall record of 11-5 but are 1-3 in league standings. Leading the pack is Fruita at 3-0, Durango sits second at 3-1, Central 2-2, then Montrose with Grand Junction at the bottom 0-3.

Durango is the lone ranked team from the Southwestern league with an overall record of 14-2.
Leading scorer for the Red Hawks is Bryar Moss with 11.8 avg points per game.
