| | I'm still new to Colorado, and this winter has really been something. Don't hate me, I came from Miami. I know that makes my expectations a little skewed, but six months of snow is absolutely ridiculous. But maybe, given that it's the first week of May and I haven't had to brush snow off my car in a week, we're finally done. And now I remember why I moved here; for the fantastic biking, hiking and water activities we are so lucky to have access to on the Western Slope. Just this morning I was at Black Canyon working on a story for this week's outdoors section, and I was happy to see the tread of the trail as the last of the snow melts away. As the summer season, my first as a reporter with the MDP,, gets closer, my goal is to share with y'all everything this area has to offer by spicing up our Outdoors section with the kind of content I would want to read as someone who lives here. Especially someone who just moved here. So far we've looked at mountain biking in the desert and rafting in the rivers, and we'll do our best to bring you more of the fun Outdoor content we think you're looking for on Fridays. If for no other reason then because I like writing and researching it, and I do use these articles for personal gain. So let me know what you want to read more about! Cheers, Kylea Henseler, Staff Reporter kyleah@montrosepress.com View from the 18 Road trails in Fruita-had to pop by after spending last week researching the best trails (and post-trail meals) in the Grand Valley.
