Happy Father's Day

Image
I remember in high school when some of my friends, who overhead me talking on the phone with my dad, were shocked to hear me call him "bro." While to some this may have seemed like a lack of respect, to me it was normal.

I wasn't calling him "bro" as some act of teenage rebellion.

My father has been great at fulfilling all of the obligatory dad duties: telling bad jokes; cheering me up when no one else could; telling good jokes; teaching me how to drive; and, of course, telling semi-good semi-bad jokes.

But, he has also been a best friend. Someone who showed me the coolest movies and cartoons growing up (we're big ThunderCats fans), someone who spent hours finding the Led Zeppelin song he forgot the name of just so he could show it to me (it was "Fool in the Rain"), and someone who taught me that it's always important to be yourself (the right people will find you.)

Happy Father's Day to my dad and to all the father figures out there.

Fingers crossed I finish my gift for him by Sunday...
