Good times aplenty The bad news? I had to "work" Friday night. The good news? Work was a concert at The Bridges! It not only featured local band Dave's Fault and a favorite of mine (dating myself here), Night Ranger, but also helped two very worthy causes. The Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center helps abused children by offering a "one-stop shop" for police interviews, medical exams and support. The Montrose Community Foundation supports many other regional nonprofits through grants, grant-writing, and more. Both of these organizations are in line to receive proceeds from the Night Ranger concert, so I just want to thank everyone who showed up, as well as sponsors and hosts. And of course, the bands. They braved the weather, which was ... extreme for mid-June! But it all worked out in the end, with the rain lifting. Rock on, everyone!

Speaking of good times This weekend was also Montrose Food and Wine Festival! It was held (in the sunshine!) at the Rotary Amphitheater, Cerise Park, raising money for Black Canyon Boys & Girls Club. Fabulous turnout, 750 folks, says Bud Taylor, executive director of the club. (Courtesy photo)
And a sad goodbye The Daily Press is saying farewell to staff writer Rhiannon Bergman, who tackled the school district, the city, and filled the pages with lively features. Rhiannon found another opportunity she really wanted to take, and although we'll miss her (I am ugly-crying as I write this), we know she will do well and wish her all the best!
