First, a correction
Last week, I wrote about finding information I was seeking about a headstone in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Plenty of good folks filled me in that the stone memorializes Henry Brennecke, who fought in WWII.
Unfortunately, I typed his date of death incorrectly, but two eagle-eyed readers noted it. Mr. Brennecke died in 1944, not in 1941, and I really should have caught that.

Did you get out this weekend? Once again, there was plenty to do in Montrose. I went on a ramble through Cerise and nature trails, then dunked my legs into the Uncompahgre. Be careful out there! The river is not only up and fast, but as I found out, it is cold for mid-June! Got out and my legs were numb; brrr! The big day was Saturday, though, which brought us the Ute Indian Museum's Community Appreciation Day. Chock-full of events as always (and frybread!), but also something extra special. The museum formally opened its outdoor naturescape playground. If you missed it on Saturday, stop by and check it out. (Here's Darlene Lansing cooking up frybread at last year's celebration.)
