Water's way up!

Jeremy Morrison
You know it's been a wet winter. You know the rivers are raging with runoff. But what exactly does that look like in comparison to drier years?

This week we published some incredibly illustrative photos from our buddy William Woody that are worth checking out.

Woody — a stellar photographer — returned to the same spots around Blue Mesa that he photographed in 2021 to reshoot the scenes and capture the contrast in water levels at the reservoir. The difference is striking!

The shots reveal spaces that were high and dry in the drought year of 2021, whereas those same spaces are now filled to the brim — well, almost anyway, as Katharhynn relayed in her story Tuesday the levels are about 16 feet from being completely full.

Do yourself a favor and check out Katharhynn's story and Woody's photos to get a real feel for just how wet of a winter we've had on the Western Slope and just how much deeper the water is this year up at Blue Mesa.

Have a Good One,
