From Black Canyon to wildfires ...

When most people think about retirement, they may imagine a slowing pace, a relaxing of routines and responsibilities. Ryan Thrush is not most people.

After 30 years with the National Park Service — 21 of those years serving in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park — Thrush is retiring. But he won't exactly be taking it easy. Instead, the ranger is moving on to pursue another interest — fighting wildfires.

"I'm not just gonna go sit at home," Thrush told our reporter, Kylea Henseler.
