We saw humanity at its best last week

Image

A local hiker who found himself stuck at the bottom of rugged Bobcat Trail last week made it home safely thanks to the efforts of Olathe-area rancher Jody Haskell, his horses, and the Olathe police, the Sherriff's Posse and local EMS.

Yep, you heard that right.

Jody Haskell aided in the six-hour rescue and used his horses to help transport the hiker, who had a severe ankle injury.

Thankfully, the hiker is expected to fully recover.

(Speaking of horses, check out our latest report on how City police plan to integrate horses into daily patrols).

Besides food, there will also be beer served by the Boys and Girls Club, vintage shopping by Mosaic, cool cars provided by Black Canyon Classics and live music by Donny Morales.

Uncompahgre River made the new Colo Quality Waters list for fishing

Here's another feather in the cap for our beautiful area!

The Uncompahgre River in Montrose was designated as one of 53 "Colorado Quality Waters" by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

This designation highlights lakes and streams that offer high quality fishing opportunities, just below the Gold Medal Waters standard.

Read more about what this means for fishing here.
