Something new?

Montrose sure is growing

Not that I can complain- I'm certainly no local by any true sense of the word. Among friends that grew up here, local sources and more, the city's growth seems to bring mixed feelings. But as the weather heats up, it also seems like Montrose is heating up with new projects and businesses

For example Shelter has been crowded since opening day and promises a spot to get good food and drinks after many other non-chain restaurants close for the night. As someone who's in my 20s, I appreciate that, because a late(r) night place to grab food is something we really didn't have much of yet, barring fast food options.

And Shelter's aren't the only doors that will open this summer. Tomorrow, I'll stop by the boutique Rathbone Hotel downtown to see what they're all about.

When it come to new projects, Montrose Urban Renewal Authority also approved over $1 million per project in horizontal site improvements for two new projects within the Colorado Outdoors campus: a new hotel and a mixed use project with market (or just above market) rate apartments.

Like I said, lots of growth. On the homegrown front, I'll also spend some time next week interviewing Montrose's newest food truck owners, who make Salvadorian Cuisine.

MURA also heard an initial pitch for another new project that's certainly unlike anything we have her, but we'll have more on that in later.

So, stay tuned!
Cheers,
Kylea from the newsroom

Don't forget the Fourth!
