What's happening, Montrose?

Image

Howdy and happy Thursday folks,

Today was so hot that I immediately regretted sitting down in my car without sitting down on my designated summer driving towel (plus a rag just to touch the gear shift).

What a time to be alive!

Luckily we saw a little reprieve from the heat this evening thanks to the clouds and wind hanging over Montrose. Don't get too comfy, though! The high temps and high UVs aren't behind us yet.

Here's some quick refreshers on how to stay safe from the sun and heat:

* Never leave kids or pets unattended in vehicles. Look before you lock!

* Avoid strenuous activity (when possible) during hottest part of the day.

* Avoid consumption of alcohol and caffeine... Hey, I'm just the messenger here. Realistically, drink extra water, especially if you plan to drink (alcohol or caffeine)!

* Keep pets indoors or provide plenty of shade and water.

Wear lightweight, light-colored and loose clothing.

* Wear a hat! Skin cancer doesn't discriminate - your scalp is fair game to being at risk.

* Did I mention drink water?
As someone who frequently forgets to hydrate, I find carrying around a water bottle with a straw is game-changing. Everyone is different though, so find something that makes it easier and enjoyable for you!

Now, grab a cold drink - it's time to jump into this upcoming week's events around town!

- Cassie
