Take a look through the Local Lens ...

Image

I was grabbing some breakfast at Backstreet Bagel the other day and there they were, in a stack, calling out to be perused — copies of the new publication Local Lens.

I'd already read the stories in Local Lens — I helped put the publication together — but I picked up a copy and leafed through it anyway. Some stories are just more fun to read over a hot coffee or cold beer. That's the type of stories you'll find in Local Lens, which is convenient as you'll find the free paper in places like coffeehouses and breweries.

Local Lens is where you can find stories chronicling the culture of the region — of Montrose and Delta counties, as well as elsewhere on the Western Slope. It's where you can find out where to go hear live music, read about outdoor ventures or learn about a new business in the area.

In this week's issue of Local Lens there's a story detailing the expansion of the Ridgway Area Trail system. The RAT is currently being expanded with five new miles of mountain bike trails, with a focus on increasing access and creating trails accessible to adaptive riders.

If you want to take a look at Local Lens online, you can do so here. Though I suggest looking for a copy next time you're out getting a bagel — it's just fun to flip through while you're sipping some coffee.

Is Montrose due a new high school? MCSD will need to sell voters on the need for $200 million project

As Montrose County School District Superintendent Dr. Carrie Stephenson leads a virtual tour through the theoretical entryway of an architecturally-imagined new Montrose High School, it's easy enough to get absorbed into the renderings she has projected onto a screen in her office. From the campus's spatial reorientation, into the school's sunlit entry and through its cavernous atrium and thoughtfully laid out classrooms, it seems an ideal space for both educating students and serving as a  wider community asset.
