Here's a fun fact for you history buffs out there: Any young ones starting the 4th grade this year receive a free membership with the Ute Indian Museum in Montrose (through History Colorado). 

History Colorado is offering free memberships to all eight of their museums for the student and their family, plus one free child ticket to the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park® (with the purchase of an adult ticket).

Now - Aug. 23

Donations for live and silent auction items needed to benefit Haven House Transitional Living Center's fundraiser, the Cobble Creek Golf Tournament - Larry Fredericksen Memorial Scramble. The tournament is on Aug. 24.

Haven House needs donated items like gift cards, arts and crafts, jewelry, gift baskets and more, and also gently used collectibles, antiques, home decor, and the like.

Now through August 31

The Montrose Womans Club is accepting vendors for its annual holiday bazaar Oct. 18 and 19. Proceeds from table rentals go to small, local nonprofits.

Saturday, August 10

8 a.m. - City of Montrose Fun on the Uncompahgre (FUNC) Fest kicks off with a pancake breakfast at MADA, 17 N. Sixth St.

At 9 a.m., vendor booths open for FUNC Fest, at Riverbottom Park; events throughout the day, including downstream raft, kayaks and paddle board races, kids activities, boogie board championships, the Partners West ducky race (purchase a rubber duck by 2:15 p.m. for chance to win).

Starting at 6 p.m., live music at the amphitheater, with DnG Railroad, followed by headliner Cousin Curtiss.


9 - 11 a.m. - Nature Detectives: Bats at Ridgway State Park, Pa-Co-Chu-Puk entrance, at Camper Services.


9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Kenny's Comics travels to Montrose for a pop up shop at the Hampton Inn in Montrose. Everything you can find at a comic book store.

Admission is $1 for adults; kids 12 and under get in free. Admission includes an entry into a $50 shopping spree raffle. Drawing at 2:30 p.m.


9 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Ridgway Rendezvous Arts and Crafts Festival, downtown park, Ridgway.


5 - 7 p.m. - Inclusive swim night for individuals with Autism and Sensory Sensitivities. Hosted at the Montrose Recreation District Field House, 25 Colorado Ave. The event includes two bounce houses, a grill and hot dogs, and a sensory-safe environment.


7 - 8:30 p.m. - "Birds of Ridgway State Park," by birding expert Mike Campell, Dutch Charlie entrance, visitors center.

7 - 10 p.m. - Nashville recording artist Gary Lear and the Red Ridge Riders perform at Circle 3 Cowboy Fellowship, 62885 LaSalle Road, Montrose. Bring lawn chairs. Dancing and Chuck Wagon Style Dinner.


Sunday, August 11


10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Ridgway Rendezvous Arts and Crafts Festival, downtown park, Ridgway.


11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - The Montrose Bully Breed Club and Tasha Today present a barbecue adoption and fundraiser event for the club and Second Chance Humane Society at Rotary Park (534 S. 12th St. by Columbine Middle School).

Food, fun, and amazing dogs interviewing for their forever humans. $10 entry for the barbecue.


Noon - 4 p.m. - Outdoor Adventure Seminar, Sportsman's Warehouse, 3451 South Rio Grande Ave., Unit C, Montrose. Join a seminar with expert outfitters to learn more about optics and pellet grills.

2 - 9 p.m. - El Mercado Night Market at 1025 E. Main St., Montrose. Ay Chabelas and MADA have partnered to help LFMG Music Academy's mission to inspire youth through music.

Money raised through the market will go toward building a new facility for youth to create and learn about outlets through music.


Noon - 3 p.m. - Mixed Bag Jazz at Shelter Distilling, 947 Mayfly Drive, Montrose.

Monday, August 12

4 - 6 p.m. - Teen(ish) Game Night at Montrose Regional Library, 320 S. Second St. Nintendo Switch, board games, pizza. Ages 12 - 18 welcome; register at https://bit.ly/mrldteen Bring along a portable gaming console if you have one, and any E or E+ rated games — or board games — to play.


Tuesday, August 13

10 a.m. - noon - Adaptive Heroes, a Grand Junction nonprofit providing speech and occupational therapy to the intellectual and developmentally disabled, displays its bus for tours at Turner Automotive, 2262 E. Main St., Montrose. Come tour the bus and learn more about Adaptive Heroes.


Wednesday, August 14

8 a.m. - 9 a.m. - The Forum meets at CMU's Cascade Hall, South Third Street and Cascade Avenue, Montrose. Featured topic: 'Recreation and Celebration,' historic photographs of outdoor fun in Ouray, presented by Gail Zannett Saunders. Free.

5 - 7 p.m. - Elite Dog Walking LLC hosts Yappy Hour at Shelter Distilling, 947 Mayfly Drive (Colorado Outdoors development). Bring your furry friends and let them enjoy a 20-minute walk while you and your human friends enjoy a cocktail or lemonade for $10.


Thursday, August 15


5 - 9 p.m. - Montrose DART, Visit Montrose and Mosaic present The Montrose Truck Stop & 93 Flea, an eclectic market, food trucks and live music, at 312 N. First St. in Block 93, ( the parking lot between Main and North First Street at Townsend and Cascade avenues.) Embrace the nostalgia of the open road at The Montrose Truck Stop, which takes place the third Thursday of the month.

5:30 - 9 p.m. - Movie Night at The Temple (511 E. Main St.) features the classic "The Thief of Bagdad." Adults: $10; kids $5.


Friday, August 16

11 a.m. - 8 p.m. - Food Truck Fridays at Kinikin Processing, 1032 6450 Rd. in Montrose. Rotating selection of food trucks, happy hour, live music, yard games.


Saturday, August 17

All day - Youth Appreciation Day 2024, at Riverbottom Park and locations around town. Montrose Recreation District hosts the annual, free sendoff for kids who are winding up their summer break. See the full schedule at https://www.montroserec.com/youth-appreciation-day-schedule

12 - 3 p.m. - Youth Appreciation Day at the Montrose Children's Museum, 221 Colorado Ave., Unit A. The museum will offer special free admission hours for kids.  Adult rates will be reduced to $3 and SNAP benefits are available as usual.


12 p.m. - Monte de Rosas parade on Main Street in Montrose. Organized by MADA, this event celebrates our community's rich culture and heritage with a spectacular display of floats, music, dancers and more. After the parade, make your way down to La Raza Park for the fiesta and car show, with live music and vendors.
