'People were thinking that Montrose was on fire': In the shadow of the Black Canyon fire, local business are sticking together— and say there's still plenty of adventure to be had

When the flames started spreading in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park last month, Ed LeViness' phone at his business, Ed's Fly Shop, started ringing off the hook.
Taylor Johnson, owner of The Campers Hub campground and RV park, said cancellations started rolling in immediately."We saw an immediate impact," she said.

Riders are revved up for Ouray Moto Campout: Sold out Dusty Lizard event returns to Western Colorado

Around 250 motorists from around the country, and maybe farther, will descend on Ouray next weekend for the sold-out Dusty Lizard Campout by adventure motorcycle gear brand Mosko Moto.
The company hosts just a handful of campout events in adventure motorcycling destinations around the country each year, but Events and Marketing Specialist Wade Olsen said it's the company's third time holding one on the Western Slope.
"Southwest Colorado is just epic," he said, and before Ouray the series visited Ridgway and Silverton in past years.

On the river, in style: Func Fest turns 10

River runners, surfers, and other brave souls hit the Uncompahgre Saturday to celebrate the 10th Func Fest in style over the weekend.
The annual celebration highlights the Uncompahgre River and its accessible Water Sports Park in the heart of Riverbottom Park. The adaptive water park is also celebrating 10 years of bringing athletes to their river.
