A sneak peek at tomorrow's print edition …

In tomorrow's print edition of the Montrose Daily Press, you can read about Charlie Winger, a Montrose climber, who at 88 became the third oldest person to summit Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro; and also about the reopening of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park following the South Rim Fire; as well as about a local man that's been charged with 84 counts of animal cruelty.

Also, it's that time of year already — high school sports are ramping up and student athletes are diving into the fall season. In Saturday's paper you can read a preview of the 2025 Red Hawks' football season. Last year, MHS fell one game shy of snagging the 4A state championship — they're looking to make another run for that title this season.

Polis said in a press release that Thursday's executive order declaring an emergency would "bolster our ability to jump on fires early" as elevated fire risk continues.
