Scholars reflect on senior year and scholarship opportunities | From the Newsroom

Recipients of the Gayle Clark Memorial Scholarship wrote letters to reflect on the opportunity and their futures. Meanwhile, grants have been awarded for local trails, and motorcycles are returning to the roads.

THOUGHTS OF GAYLE CLARK MEMORIAL SCHOLARS: Josie Eccher and Eric Gutierrez-Camacho, both Montrose High School seniors, were awarded the Gayle Clark Memorial Scholarship and shared their thoughts about the opportunity and their futures. MHS and OHS seniors will have a commencement parade on May 17 after an unpredictable and emotional second senior semester.

WILDLIFE COMMISSION APPROVES TRAIL GRANTS: The Colorado Wildlife Commission approved millions in trail grants, including many in the Western Slope area for off-highway vehicle trails, trail maintenance and equipment. Camping in state parks is also starting to reopen today, making outdoor recreation more accessible.

WATCH FOR MOTORCYCLES: May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, and with restrictions now starting to ease, more motorcycles are out and about on Colorado roads. CDOT is specifically reminding drivers to watch for motorcycles in intersections and be mindful when driving near them on roadways.
