METEOR SHOWER: The Perseid meteor shower will peak with the most number of meteors starting at 9 p.m. through dawn August 12 according to NASA information. Perseids are best seen between 2 a.m. and dawn. People can expect to see meteors anytime it's dark. Meteors are visible to the naked eye.
So what is a Perseid meteor? According to NASA, they are "caused by debris left behind by the Comet Swift-Tuttle."
Considered one of the best meteor showers of the year, it promises high rates of meteors, but this year, has the unfortunate circumstances of the moon phase reducing the visibility of the shower's peak.
