PAONIA COUNCIL MEETING: Just hours before the Paonia town council meeting on Aug. 11 citizens were notified via Facebook that the in-person meeting had been changed to a virtual meeting. Mayor Mary Bachran later disclosed she had been in contact with someone who tested positive for the novel coronavirus after citizen Suzanne Watson pressed the council on the late notice. MISSING IN COLORADO: About 42 years have passed since Ben Gray was last seen in Montrose, and last year marked the 20th since Dale Williams was last heard from on the West End. The two Montrose County cases are among 50 the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is highlighting as part of its annual Missing in Colorado event. If you have any information about the whereabouts of the missing men, contact Montrose Police Department, via dispatch, at 970-249-9110 or the CBI at 970-248-7500. SPUDS: I'm talking about potatoes. After all, today is National Potato Day. Mashed, smashed, chipped, smothered in cheese and sour cream, potatoes have been a popular food for centuries. They can be eaten as a side or as a meal. Packed with iron, potassium and vitamin C, potatoes were first cultivated by the Inca in Peru in 8000 B.C. Check out the results from a survey about people's favorite place for fries and favorite bag of potato chips. | |
