MASK OR NO MASK? After Gov. Jared Polis issued a statewide mask mandate, the onus fell on businesses to enforce the order since the order specified public indoor spaces, including retail stores.
While some locals have confronted business owners about their mask enforcement, many Montrose residents support their efforts. According to the state's report to lawmakers last week, obtained by The Denver Post, over 90% of Coloradans are wearing masks in settings where it is required. Are you one of them?

Theodore Roosevelt, standing in the car, gave a wave of his hat.

118 years ago: On Aug. 22, 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt became the first United States president to make a public appearance by automobile.
Roosevelt began his tour of New England with a car ride through Connecticut.
Throughout Roosevelt's presidency, he accumulated an impressive list of presidential "firsts" according to the Theodore Roosevelt Association. Some of those firsts included:
- to be submerged in a submarine
- to own a car
- to have a telephone in his home
- to entertain an African-American, Booker T. Washington, in the Whitehouse

The classrooms are spaced and cleaned to social distancing guidelines as Olathe Elementary School staff prepare to welcome students back for another school year.
All adults and older children will be required to wear a face covering, while masks will be strongly encouraged for younger students. Temperature screenings will also be conducted each morning. Because of these new protocols, equipment needs to be rearranged and materials must be made readily available, a process that staff is working through before students arrive.
