LUNCH TIME: I was looking through the news email when I came across an email "Our latest wildlife." I have always enjoyed nature, but I wasn't expecting to see a bear. This bear cub stopped by Karyn Tunison's residence for lunch and then enjoyed a quick bath in the water trough. How cute!

FINANCIAL PINCH: Downtown Montrose retailers are struggling financially as the foot traffic downtown has dropped throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The loss of that activity has pushed a number of downtown businesses to close shop and adjust, including Alpine Floral, The Ginger Cat and Little Flower Hemp Company.

NEW EQUIPMENT: The Montrose County Sheriff's Office spent over $739,000 on 55 body cameras and 36 in-vehicle cameras, which should arrive in the next six to 10 weeks.
Months prior to the state passing a police reform bill requiring law enforcement agencies to issue body cameras by 2023, MCSO was planning to purchase new equipment.
"We had been planning this months ago, before all this took place," Sheriff Gene Lillard said. "It's not a knee-jerk reaction."
