Hi Montrose!

Josue from the newsroom here, happy to see the rain in Montrose this afternoon, considering how the area is reportedly experiencing extreme drought conditions. It's much needed, but be careful out there. Here's a photo of a road in Olathe that was flooded:

Here are a few stories the newsroom covered and published today:

DCSO decision: Staff Writer Anna Lynn Winfrey and Senior Writer Katharhynn Heidelberg wrote an extensive report on the verdict to not charge Delta County deputy Nolan Davis in the April shooting death of Paige Schmidt Pierce.

Booze to-go: To-go cocktails? To-go margaritas? Chances are you've used the service at local restaurants and businesses since Polis introduced it during the pandemic last year. Polis signed a new law, an extension of the initial order, that'll keep alcohol takeout and delivery in Colorado for the next four years.

Today in Montrose history: On June 24, 1951, Bob Gill threw his second no hitter of the season for Montrose High School, helping improve the team's record to 20-0. Montrose went on to win the baseball state championship that season.

Summer fever: Managing Editor Justin Tubbs took this photo while on a hike at the Black Canyon. We have a poll on our website asking visitors what their favorite summertime activity is. What's yours?

Montrose trivia: What year did the Montrose Water Sports Park officially open to the public? The first to answer correctly (send your answer to editor@montrosepress.com or josuep@montrosepress.com) gets a free NABUR t-shirt.
