Hi and hello, it's Cassie here with your daily newsletter. Did you know that Hawaiian pizza was actually created in Ontario, Canada? Greek immigrant Sam Panopoulos introduced it to the world in 1962, beginning the controversial debate: Does pineapple go on pizza? (Answer: Absolutely yes they do.) Citizens can now file non-emergency reports to the MPD: The Montrose Police Department rolled out a new feature, called the Desk Officer Online Reporting System (DORS) yesterday which will allow Montrose citizens to report conveniently online on their own time without having to make a trip to the department.
In case you missed it: Coloradan Cassandra Stratton, wife of Michael Stratton, the senior policy advisor with law firm Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was one of the nearly 100 people to have gone missing in the 12-story residential building that collapsed in Miami, Florida yesterday morning. The reason behind the tragic event is still being investigated.
Today we remember: King of Pop, Michael Jackson, died on this day in 2009 in his home of cardiac arrest at age 50. Jackson gave us classics like "Thriller," "Beat it," and "Smooth Criminal" during his music reign. Let's not forget his early start with his brothers, Jackson 5! Rest in peace, king.
