Montrose is in the bottom-center part of this map. That big red cluster in the upper left is Grand Junction:
However, we're fortunate to be extremely close to nature un-polluted by the glow of streetlights and regular traffic.
The International Dark Sky Places Program officially certified Currecanti National Recreation Area as a dark sky park, becoming the first national recreation area in the US to achieve this status.

How is the I-70 detour affecting Montrose? I went up and talked to people at a bunch of gas stations yesterday to hear about how the I-70 closure through Glenwood Canyon was affecting their travel plans. The reactions ranged from "meh, the single-line highway isn't my favorite" to "I had to change my entire trip."

Bipartisan infrastructure bill: how much will CO get? If you pay close attention to the political scrimmages in Washington, then you've probably been hearing a lot about the bipartisan infrastructure bill making its way through the negotiating rooms of DC.
Colorado is slated to get about $5 billion from the $1 trillion bill, which could go to everything from fixing I-70 to public transportation. Throwback to the state's transportation bill that passed earlier this summer — the jury is still out about how much attention Montrose and the rest of the Western Slope will get from that.
ICYMI! Nursing homes and covid guidelines: As mask recommendations for the general public have come, gone, and come again, Cassie reported that nothing has changed much at some local nursing homes.
