Cheers, Cassie Now - May 30 Ticket sales for 50/50 raffle drawing benefitting Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans. $5 each or five tickets for $20 at the Warrior Resource Center, 4 Hillcrest Plaza Way, Montrose. The winner receives half of the cash collected through the ticket sales, while Welcome Home receives the other to continue providing crucial resources to veterans and their families in support of their transition to civilian life and other challenges. - 7:30 p.m. - "Birds of Play" is an Americawa Roots quartet based in Southwestern Colorado. Located at the Sherbino. Tickets: $20/ADV and $25/DOS.
Friday - 10 a.m. - noon: Endangered Species Day. Join Ryan Sedgeley at the Montrose Regional Library, 320 S. Second St., for information about our endangered species, the Endangered Species Act, and a free bookmark.
- 7 p.m. - "Heaven, We're Home" concert by David Hauze and Sharon Ullmann performing folk, rock and bluegrass numbers. The concert is part of St. Luke's Episcopal Church's Evening of Music Series and is free, with goodwill donations taken for the artists. The church is at 145 W. Fifth St. in Delta.
- 7:30 p.m. - Tall Poppy String Band will perform live at the Sherbino. Tickets: $15/ADV and $20/DOS.
Saturday - 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans is hosting a garage sale at 4 Plaza Way in Montrose. Proceeds go to essential resources to those who have served.
9 a.m. - noon - Rotary Kids Fishing Derby at Chipeta Lake (south Montrose, off Chipeta Road, near the Ute Indian Museum). Assistance from volunteers and free fishing poles while supplies last; bring your own if you have one, and be prepared to walk around the lake with your children. Ages 16 and older need a state fishing license. 11 a.m.- Pet adoption event at Chow Down in Montrose. 4 p.m. - The Montrose County Historical Museum will be hosting a one time Grandview Historical Cemetery Tour. Meet at the Grandview Cemetery on Sunset Mesa to learn about some of the Pioneers and their stories, plus the history of Cemeteries. Call early, space is limited. 4 p.m. - String Burners performs at Horsefly Brewing. 5:30 - 8 p.m. - Land Connections class hosted by Valley Food Partnership. This class is for connecting landowners, farmers/ranchers or agricultural workers looking to lease land. Located at LaNoue DuBois Winery, 67289 Trout Road in Montrose. 7 p.m. - Silver Basin Brewing hosts Comedy Night. $10 entry. Limited seating and adult themes. Spend 4 hours learning weight distribution, slow speed maneuvering, precision braking and even the bunny hop—all on your two-wheeler. Bring your mountain bike in good working order, helmet, appropriate riding clothes, jacket, snacks, and plenty of water. $50 per person. Register online at MontroseRec.com.
