Gun storage bill advances in CO House: A new Democrat-sponsored bill would require gun owners with children to secure firearms. Violations would be considered misdemeanors.

Advocates argued that the bill would reduce accidental shootings and youth suicides. In 2018, a total of 73 Colorado youth were killed by a gun. The bill's opponents argued that children should be taught gun safety and that a lock would delay responses for self-defense in the event of a home invasion or other emergencies.

House Bill 21-1106 passed the State, Civics, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee on Monday on a party-line vote and will soon be debated on the House floor.

Biden wants to vaccinate all adults by the end of May: President Biden announced yesterday that the US should have enough vaccine supply to inoculate all adult Americans two months earlier than expected.

The White House is evoking the Defense Production Act to increase supply of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, first expected to arrive in Montrose this Friday. Nearly 1 million Coloradans have received at least one shot. According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, approximately 1 in 4 residents of Montrose County have gotten the shot so far.

New drivers license design features Mt. Sneffels: Drivers across the state will now be able to admire the view of Mt. Sneffels from the comfort of their own wallets. (We West-Slopers only need look outside).

After a statewide online contest with more than 50,000 votes, a new design for Colorado's drivers licenses has been chosen. The picture of Mt. Sneffels was taken by Glenwood Springs photographer Matt Nunez. According to the DMV, the new designs will be deployed starting this fall.
