You can trust us:
Not to toot our own horn, but when it comes to fake news in our community, we're the first line of defense. NewsGuard, a website and an extension for your browser, scored the Montrose Daily Press and its parent company a 100/100 for transparency and credibility. It may sound like a given, considering we're a newspaper, but only about 20% of all NewsGuard-rated websites receive a perfect score. The New York Times and Washington Post also have a perfect score, for example, but CNN's website gets an 87.5, Fox News a 69.5 and MSNBC a 70.

Stimulus bill passed the House: The $1.9 trillion package passed the House today on a near party-line vote.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) attempted to delay the passage of the American Rescue Plan earlier today. Greene filed a motion to adjourn, which was voted down by all Democrats and 40 Republicans.

Biden will sign the bill into law on Friday afternoon.

We like birds, and so does reader Sue Hirshman, who sent this photo of a bald eagle to us. It's not a surprise. The bald eagle is native to our area, as well as a huge chunk of North America. Want to spot one yourself? Check out this list of places to do it — one location is right in our backyard. Send us your birding pictures. We might put them in this newsletter or in the paper.

Should Daylight Savings Time be permanent? A bipartisan group of senators think so. A coalition of Democrats and Republicans have proposed the "Sunshine Protection Act of 2021," which would make daylight savings time permanent year-round.

Proponents argue that the annual time shift disrupts circadian rhythms and that permanent daylight savings time would improve well-being. Polls have shown that the vast majority of Americans — approximately 7 in 10 — support permanent daylight savings time.

Daylight savings time will kick in early Sunday morning.
