Affordable Care Act enrollment period extended: After over 200,000 uninsured Americans signed up for health insurance, the Biden administration has extended the open enrollment period until August 15.

The recent $1.9 trillion stimulus bill also included a provision that temporarily eliminated premiums for earlier retirees.

Cargo ship aground in Suez canal: A cargo ship en route to Rotterdam, a busy port city in the Netherlands, ran aground because of winds in the middle of one of the world's most active shipping zones.

The Ever Given was built in 2018 and flies the flag of Panama. The ship is 1,312 feet long and weighs 220,000 tons. Authorities say they need about two days before the ship will be freed.

The Suez Canal, first constructed in 1869, serves as a crucial link between European and Asian markets, especially for oil and natural gas. Without the canal, ships from Asia and the Middle East would have to sail around the continent of Africa to reach the Mediterranean Sea.

Approximately 10-12% of all global shipping traffic passes through the canal every year.
