Happy Friday, y'all! Is it just me, or has this been an especially long week?

I'm glad that the weather is finally starting to cool down — the temperature on Monday night might get as low as 39 degrees! — just in time for the Tribute to Aviation this weekend.

Every time I catch a flight, I can't get over the engineering feat of a giant machine that can generate enough power to take thousands of pounds off the ground and travel at hundreds of miles per hour.

There will be dozens of military and civilian aircraft of all sizes featured at the tribute this weekend, which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free to the public. I hope to see some of you there!

Some workers leaving MMH over state vaccine mandate: The state board of health mandated at the end of August that all health care workers either be inoculated for COVID-19 by Oct. 31 or participate in twice-weekly testing.

My colleague Katharhynn Heidelberg spoke with the hospital's CEO, who said that up to 10 employees have already quit over the mandate. This comes at a time when the hospital staff are already stretched thin.

"We need more nurses, and front desk (staff) and everybody right now. To start losing them over a mandate is really hard to swallow."

$500 iTunes gift cards. Hotel rooms. Irrigation equipment. These are just some of the personal items that the former director of technology for Montrose County School District, Robert "Steve" McEwin, purchased with the district's credit card over the span of a few years.

He's plead guilty to class-4 felony theft, is going to repay the $280,000 he stole with the district's credit card and could spend up to four years in jail.

Don't miss out on columnist Stephen Woody's gripping narrative about the scandal and how district employees uncovered McEwin's deceit.

BLM Headquarters relocating to DC: Secretary of Interior Deb Haaland just announced that the Bureau of Land Management headquarters will no longer be in Grand Junction, though the agency's western headquarters will be in the city.

Haaland visited the Western Slope about two months ago, where she met with Gov. Polis, members of Colorado's legislative delegation from both sides of the aisle and local community leaders.

Dig deeper on the developing story here.
