It's that time again. Fall, that is. Katharhynn from the newsroom here, wondering what the heck happened to her summer! Fall has a lot to offer, too, though: Leaves turning, pumpkins, hunting, and more. But it's also a good time to turn your thoughts to your fellow man and woman and remember not everyone is fortunate enough to have a warm bed at night. Homelessness and hunger are real and they affect your friends and neighbors - real people, not statistics. The Lighthouse overnight shelter and Shepherd's Hand are coordinating to receive donations of sleeping bags and tents, to help those who don't have any other options. Put yourselves in those folks' shoes and, if you can, please give.

Coming up ... Reporter Anna Lynn Winfrey tuned in to the recent Pizza and Politics event featuring the candidates for this year's Montrose County School Board election. Read about it in the Tuesday, Sept. 28 edition.

There's dinner ... and then there's dinner for a worthy cause. That happened Saturday, with the inaugural Dinner on Main, presented by Just Serves and multiple sponsors. The community feast, catered by Jimmer's BBQ, raised an impressive $40,000 for Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans and Sharing Ministries.
